Electrical vehicle job recruitment goes into overdrive across Tyneside
JOBS have become available on Tyneside as a result of the electrical vehicle revolution and major American investment.
NASDAQ-listed electric vehicle company Ideanomics has launched a recruitment drive at its Newcastle base which will, literally, help drive the country forward in the UK.
The Ideanomics Digital arm of the business concentrates on accelerating IT and technology allowing Ideanomics to work towards increasing electric vehicle sales globally.
The company plans to fill 25 roles by the start of 2023, including software developers, business analysts and IT technicians, with potential for more to follow.
Ideanomics’ director of software development, Mark Thompson said: “The technology here is as exciting as it comes; real artificial intelligence and machine learning, we’re talking about cutting edge technologies.
“We know that tech talent in the North East is of a very high standard and can rise to the challenge.”
Ideanomics Digital is a member of the tech network Dynamo North East and is also working with Sunderland Software City.
Through the collaborations, the company is aiming to attract people who are just starting their careers in tech, alongside more experienced developers looking for new opportunities.
David Dunn, chief executive of Dynamo and Sunderland Software City, said: “The North East is well equipped to support growing technology companies to flourish in the region. We’re delighted to be working with Ideanomics, and we look forward to seeing their work unfold in bettering the EV industry across the globe.”
Elected Metro mayor for the North of Tyne, Jamie Driscoll, said: “New jobs. Well-paid jobs – jobs that are helping to ensure we have the skills to tackle the climate crisis.
“This is a big win for the region and it’s testament to the talent we have here.
“Hats off to Ideanomics for recognising that.”
